I’m one of those guys who have this fear of kitchen accidents, garage accidents, workbench accidents, bathroom accidents, and other accidents in the home. It has not happened yet. But I try to make sure that it doesn’t happen, and I minimize the chances of it ever happening.
To prevent accidents from happening, I have gone to some lengths and expense at safety devices. These include corner rubber thingies which you put on a table’s corner so that a kid won’t hit his head; and dummy plugs for the electric sockets, so a kid would not accidentally electrocute himself while playing with electric sockets; and other such devices even if I don’t have a toddler at home. It does sound silly, but I’m just looking out for the unexpected.
Another thing which I did was put bath tub stickers so that your feet would have a grip on the smooth porcelain exterior. That was so cheap and so easy to do. I did feel a bit stupid enumerating and repeating the childish shapes while I was sticking these onto to the tub floor. A fully dressed grown man sitting on the bath tub and pasting stickers to the tub bottom. That is as painlessly and mundanely fun as anyone could get.
About as much fun as pasting glow-in-the-dark stickers on the glass panels of the bookshelfs.
